Cookie Policy
QWERKY Events ("we," "our," or "us") uses cookies and similar technologies to enhance your experience on our website www.qwerkyevents.com (the "Website"). This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, how we use them, and your options for managing cookies.
What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (computer, smartphone, or tablet) when you visit a website. They help the website remember your actions and preferences (such as login, language, and display preferences) over a period of time so you don’t have to re-enter them whenever you come back to the site or browse from one page to another.
Cookies can be either first-party cookies, set by us, or third-party cookies, set by other websites or services (such as analytics providers or social media platforms).
How We Use Cookies
We use cookies on our Website for the following purposes:
Essential Cookies: These are necessary for the Website to work, for example to take a booking and payment securely. They are always on. We also remember your cookie choice in a cookie called "qwerky_consent" for 6 months, so we don’t ask you on every page. If you arrive through a friend’s refer-a-friend link or a partner’s link that gives you money off, we keep that code in your browser ("qwerky_code", for 30 days) so it’s filled in when you book; you can remove it on the booking form. A partner link with no money off is only remembered if you click “Accept”.
Performance and Analytics Cookies: These cookies help us understand how visitors use our Website by collecting information about the number of visitors, the pages they visit, and how long they stay. This helps us improve the performance of the Website. We use tools like Google Analytics for this purpose.
Advertising and Marketing Cookies: These help us measure how well our adverts work (for example, whether someone who saw an advert went on to book) and show relevant adverts. They are set by Google and Meta (Facebook and Instagram). We also set our own cookie, "qwerky_ads", for 90 days, which remembers the advert or campaign link that brought you to the Website; if you then book or send an enquiry, this is saved with it.
Analytics and advertising cookies are only used if you click "Accept" on our cookie banner. If you don’t, Google’s tag still loads but uses Google’s "consent mode": it sets no cookies and only sends Google basic, anonymous information (such as that a page was viewed or a booking was made), which Google uses to estimate how well adverts work overall without identifying you.
Third Party Cookies
Some cookies are placed by third-party services that appear on our pages, including:
Stripe: Our card payments are handled by Stripe. Its payment code runs on our booking and payment pages (including the “Pay in 3 with Klarna” message) and sets cookies needed to take payments securely and prevent fraud.
Google (Analytics, Ads and Tag Manager): Used to understand visits to the Website and to measure our Google adverts. Google’s cookies are only set if you accept cookies. When you book or send an enquiry, Google may also receive your email address and phone number in a scrambled (hashed) form, so it can match the booking to an advert you clicked ("enhanced conversions"), and only if you accepted cookies.
Meta Pixel and Conversions API (Facebook and Instagram): Used to measure our Facebook and Instagram adverts, only if you accept cookies. When you book or send an enquiry, our website also tells Meta directly, with your email address, phone number and name in a scrambled (hashed) form, your IP address and browser type, so Meta can match it to an advert you saw or clicked. This is also only done if you accepted cookies.
Eventbrite, Design My Night, Bottomless Brunch: When you book events via our partners on their own websites, these services may set their own cookies.
Managing Cookies
You can manage and control cookies in several ways:
Browser Settings: Most web browsers allow you to manage your cookie preferences through their settings. You can choose to block or delete cookies, but please note that doing so may impact the functionality of our Website.
Browser help pages: Chrome (support.google.com/chrome), Firefox (support.mozilla.org), Safari (support.apple.com) and Edge (support.microsoft.com) explain how to do this.
Cookie Consent Banner: When you first visit our Website, you will see a cookie consent banner. You can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page.
Cookie Duration
The length of time a cookie remains on your device depends on whether it is a "persistent" or "session" cookie. Session cookies remain on your device until you close your browser, while persistent cookies remain until they expire or are deleted.
Session Cookies: These are temporary cookies that remain on your device during your session and are deleted when you close your browser.
Persistent Cookies: These cookies remain on your device for a set period or until you manually delete them.
Updates to This Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the way we use cookies or for operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. Any changes will be posted on this page, and we will notify you of any significant changes.
