Behind the Scenes at Qwerky: The Team, the Queens and Our Home at Legends
Booking a party with a company you've never heard of can feel like a leap of faith. So here's who we are, how we work and what we promise every guest who walks through the door at a Qwerky drag brunch.
Who we are
Qwerky Events was built on one simple idea: events should never be boring. For five years we've been bringing Brighton together for bold, joyful drag brunches packed with live entertainment, games, music and big group celebrations.
We're a queer-led, LGBTQ+ inclusive events company, run by Brunch Club Limited (company number 17354469). Here are the numbers so far:
- 900+ brunches hosted
- 72,800 brunch-goers welcomed
- 1,800 performers booked
- 5 years running
The team behind the party
Qwerky is a small team, and you'll deal with real people from the moment you book:
- Jason, Founder, who started Qwerky and still runs it.
- Paloma, Bookings Manager, who answers your emails and looks after group bookings and special requests.
- Adam, Marketing Manager, who's behind our posts, emails and offers.
- Max, Lead Designer, who makes everything look the part.
On the day you'll also meet our hosts and the Legends team, who look after your table, your food and your drinks.
The queens
Our brunches are hosted by top UK drag talent. They sing, they host, they run the games and they get every table involved. The line-up changes from week to week, so you might see a familiar face or discover a new favourite.
Want to stay in your seat and just enjoy it? That's completely fine. Nobody is ever forced to join in. You can cheer from your table and still have a brilliant time.
Our home: Legends Brighton
Every Saturday at 2pm and 5pm you'll find us at Legends Brighton, 31-34 Marine Parade, Kemptown, BN2 1TR, right on the seafront and a short walk from the Palace Pier.
You might remember us from Bar Broadway on Steine Street. We moved to Legends to give our guests a bigger, better home. The drag brunch now held at Bar Broadway is run by a different company and isn't connected to Qwerky. Qwerky tickets are only sold on our website and through our official ticket partners, such as Eventbrite, FIXR and Skiddle.
Food you can trust
Our food is cooked by the chef at Legends, whose kitchen is checked by the Food Standards Agency. You can see its current food hygiene rating on our menu page.
We publish the allergens for every dish and every drink, right down to the bun and the cocktail mixers. We have vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free options. If you have an allergy, tell us when you book and speak to our team on the day.
Honest about the venue
We'd rather tell you now than have you find out on the day: Legends Brighton is not an accessible venue. If you or someone in your group has access needs, please email us at bookings@qwerkyevents.com before booking. We'll talk you through the arrangements honestly so you can decide.
The show also has loud music, stage lighting and sometimes haze or flashing lights. Let us know before booking if that might affect you.
A safe space for everyone
Everyone is welcome at Qwerky. In return, we ask all our guests to bring respect, kindness and good vibes. We don't tolerate homophobia, transphobia, racism, misogyny, harassment, unwanted touching or abuse of any kind. Anyone who behaves this way may be asked to leave.
Kinder to the planet
Every Qwerky event is carbon neutral. We offset the carbon from our events through Ecologi and plant around 50 trees every month.
When you contact us
Every email gets an automatic reply with a case number, so you know we've got it and it won't get lost. Your case stays open until it's answered. You can also reach us on WhatsApp.
When you book on our website, your ticket with a QR code arrives by email straight away. At the door, we scan it and you're in.
