The Perfect Brighton Hen Weekend: An Hour-by-Hour Plan

A bride-to-be and her hens celebrating at a Qwerky drag brunch in Brighton

Brighton was made for hen weekends: the beach, the pier, The Lanes, and some of the best nights out in the country, all within walking distance. Here's a ready-made plan you can steal, with the drag brunch as the big moment of the weekend.

Before you go: book these first

  • Somewhere to stay. The seafront and Kemptown are the best spots: close to everything, and you can walk back at the end of the night.
  • The main event. Saturdays fill up first, especially in spring and summer. Book the brunch early, then plan around it.
  • Travel. Brighton station is about 25 minutes' walk from the seafront in Kemptown, or around 10 minutes in a taxi.

Our free hen party planning checklist covers the rest, week by week.

Friday: arrive and settle in

Afternoon: arrive, check in, and get the decorations up in the room.

Evening: a relaxed dinner somewhere near your hotel, then one or two drinks. Hand out the sashes, badges and matching T-shirts tonight, so everyone's ready for tomorrow.

Top tip: don't go too hard on Friday. Saturday is a long day, and you want the bride on top form.

Saturday: the big day

10am: a proper breakfast. Water, coffee, carbs.

11am: a stroll along the seafront to Brighton Palace Pier, or a wander around The Lanes and North Laine for shopping and photos.

12.30pm: back to the hotel to get glammed up together. Sparkle is encouraged.

1.45pm: walk along the seafront to Legends on Marine Parade. Come in through the red side door on Camelford Street.

2pm to 4.30pm: the Qwerky drag brunch. Live drag queens host, sing and run the games, with food at your table and 90 minutes of bottomless drinks. The bride gets her moment in the spotlight, and the whole group ends up singing.

5pm: you're already in Kemptown, so carry on. St James's Street is the heart of Brighton's LGBTQ+ village, with bars that keep the party going, and there's drag and cabaret on most nights.

8pm: dinner (book this ahead for a big group), then dancing.

Prefer a later start? Book the 5pm brunch instead (5pm to 7.30pm). You get a lazy afternoon, then go straight from the brunch into the night out.

Sunday: recovery

10am: a big breakfast. Water first, then coffee, then the group photos.

11am: a gentle walk along the seafront, a ride up the Brighton i360, or a look round the Royal Pavilion.

Afternoon: one last lunch together, then the train home and a group chat full of photos.

What does it cost?

Here's a rough guide per person for the main things:

  • Drag brunch: from £42.50 per person, plus a 4% booking fee. Every 2nd ticket is half price on every date until 30 January.
  • Accommodation: prices vary hugely by season. Book early for summer weekends, and split a big apartment to save money.
  • Food and drinks for the rest of the weekend: set a group budget before you go, so nobody gets a nasty surprise.

Stop chasing everyone for money: when you book 4 or more places at least 3 weeks ahead, choose "Split it with friends". You pay a £10 deposit for each friend's place, and every hen pays their own share.

Good to know

  • The brunch is 18+, so everyone needs photo ID.
  • Legends isn't an accessible venue: there's a flight of stairs to the brunch room. If anyone has access needs, read our access page and message us before booking.
  • Pack flats. You'll be dancing.

Want the whole day in one place? Our Brighton day out page has the plan, plus perks for Qwerky guests.
